Feb. 16th, 2003 07:57 pmTaking a little trip today was not a very good idea. It was just barely beginning to snow here when I left. My friends live about 15 miles south of me, so as I drove to see them I was driving towards the winter storm. Most of the trip was on I-95, which was still clear. Once I left the highway, there was some snow on the roads, maybe less than an inch. Things seemed a little slick, but not horrible. By the time I arrived, I realized that I probably should've stayed home. My friends seemd to have come to the same conclusion, so we decided that I should just visit with them for a couple of hours.
I met Bob and Marianne back in the college days. They are my age. They have two kids now, Ellen who is 4, and Charlie who is 2. Ellen is a little chatterbox and probably one of the friendliest and least-shy kids I have ever been around. We all wound up sitting on the floor and talking and playing with Legos. We agreed to get together again soon.
By the time I left, there was quite a bit more snow on the roads. The drive home was pretty tense, but fortunately the roads were largely empty so I was able to just take it nice and slow and easy. I was quite relieved once I finally got home. I'm a baby when it comes to driving on snow and ice, what can I say. And Prius, a fine car in most respects, doesn't strike me as a sure-footed little mountain goat.
It is still snowing and from what I gather will continue to snow throughout the night. I have fantasies of working from home tomorrow, but am not optimistic.
Finally got that haircut the other day, and Marianne said it looks nice.
