This jumped out at me, from an article about the guy killed by air marshals in Orlando: "There were only 32 air marshals at the time of the Sept. 11 attacks. The Bush administration hired thousands more afterward, but the exact number is classified."

I'm sure this sounds weird, but I'm glad we've never heard of someone standing up in a plain, pulling out a weapon, and telling people not to panic because he is an air marshal . . . and that he just had to go talk to the pilot about diverting the flight to Cuba . . . Yeah, probably not.
