squamousI am a compulsive reader, and the Internet is my worst nightmare and fondest dream... my madonna and whore... or something like that. A hell of a time-waster that occasionally coughs up interesting distractions. Here are some pieces that have intrigued me lately, that poor impulse control compels me to share.
Al Qaeda's Fantasy Ideology. Not sure how much of this I agree with, but at least it's very well-argued.
When It Pays To Be Poor. "Earth to the U.N.: Welfare doesn't work on a global scale either." Worth considering, I thought.
Boys compete 'for the sake of it'. Yeah, I was afraid of this. And then there's me....
Mrs. Mugabe joins Zimbabwe land grab. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
Monsters of our own creation. "In Iraq and Afghanistan, our current allies will be tomorrow's enemies." Well, duh.
Saddam killed Abu Nidal over al-Qa'eda row. Hrmmm. Not sure I buy this... I mean why shoot him, or release any kind of news about his death at all then?
OK well I think I am gonna watch this Hysterical Blindness thing on HBO now, since it is set in New Jersey, and is a period piece, and has the lovely Uma Thurman and Juliette Lewis in it. Ah damn I changed channels too soon and caught the "insightful voiceover" wrap up of Sex in the City. Grrr.
