Wow, Rocky and Bullwinkle will be coming out on DVD. I loved this cartoon so much when I was a little kid. Used to watch it in the mornings before nursery school. Boris and Natasha, moon men, and Bullwinkle trying to pull a rabbit out of his hat. I'll probably try and score the DVD... I wonder if it will live up to my memory? Hopefully.

I read somewhere that 'they' are going to be making a movie of Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy. I really wonder how that will come out. I dug the first two books in that series... the third lost me here and there (and kept making me think of Madeleine L'Engle's "Time Quartet", which is not a bad thing really), but ultimately I liked it. At first I was just wondering what they would have to leave out of the story to make a movie, since there are so many different ideas and elements in those books, then I remembered the book's are probably seen by some people as sacrilegious. So, I wonder if that will be a bigger problem than all the different concepts and creatures.

And speaking of fantasy 'kid lit'... reading the Harry Potter book recently made me think of John Bellairs. People should read The Figure in the Shadows from his Lewis Barnavelt series, and The Face in the Frost, which is possibly one of my favorite books. There are cool Edward Gorey illustrations in some of Bellairs' books, too.

Mike was walking around our office yesterday saying something like, "Action creates motivation! Not the other way around!" Now I keep reminding myself throughout the day that I need to test that theory.
