it's ok to say it's not ok. ok?
Jun. 14th, 2003 12:37 amYou've seen and maybe heard this silly Lord of the Rhymes thing by now, right? These guys don't look completely, hrm, comfortable in the video but it's pretty funny, maybe especially if you've read the Tolkien stuff. Plus, that's quite a Gollum they've got there.
I was in an unaccountably good mood for most of the day, especially this morning and afternoon. This night I got into a more typical funk.
We stopped by this place called Trenton Stone this afternoon to look at some rocks. It was a surprisingly cool-looking place, an older house that had lots of stone around its first floor, and that was surrounded by some great old trees. Back in the trees there were lots and lots of different sheets of rock for sale. They had some very pretty slabs of granite, and lots of other stuff, well you know, these other big pieces of some or another stone-type. All the world's rocks. It was such a nice looking place - I'm not remotely doing it justice - with all the different big pieces of rock right under some very large, very green trees, that I wished I had my camera with me. Maybe I should be one of those people who takes the little digital camera with me everywhere. The other sight that inspired this thought recently was a big inflatable HULK that currently stands astride the cereal aisle of a local grocery store. I guess that's sort of one vote for having the camera with me, one vote against.
Our friend Tracy is coming up from Florida to work with us for a few days again. It dawned on someone that flights into Atlantic City would be cheaper than flights into Philadelphia or Newark, so Tracy will be flying into Atlantic City Sunday night, and I am going to have to go pick him up. Everybody has fun when Tracy comes to town, but I think next week will be really busy for us. There was talk of a Wednesday night trip to Atlantic City though, since Tracy is flying out Thursday morning. We'll see if it happens.
The Tracy thing didn't really come up firm til Thursday night, so the fact of it will alter my important weekend plans a little, but no big deal.
Also: a Boeing 727 is still missing somewhere in or near Africa; the freeway flasher felt 'neglected by my wife' (but honked to made sure fellow motorists were paying attention); China Mieville's list of Fifty Fantasy & Science Fiction Works That Socialists Should Read has finally come to my attention. And where have all the millionaires gone?
