Space shuttle Columbia, the oldest shuttle, apparently fell apart during reentry this morning. Seven astronauts on board, all lost. This brings on the heavy sadness. I am not even going to turn on the news, my heart can't take the frantic, pointless blow by blow right now. This sucks.
Tracy reminded me in AIM that they have to keep flying missions, unlike after Challenger, as there are still live bodies in orbit (I am assuming at the international space station). How many shuttles are there now? 2 or 3 I think... Atlantis, Discovery, Endeavor...? I know shit happens but this particular shit right here makes me feel like bawling - thinking of the families, the uncertainty, the worries this brings on. I don't bawl often though, so I'll just mope like hell.
