Jan. 30th, 2003 12:10 amSomeone showed me this composite image of the Earth at night this evening, with the caveat, "I'm sure you've seen this before." I had not seen it before. It's really cool, and something to ponder. My warning to you is that it's huge.
If you look, check out the Korean peninsula. Is that freaky or what?
Tonight I did an inventory of the books that I donated to the company when we started back in July. I went through and added up the cover price of all of these books... these are "technical" books I suppose, some O'Reilly stuff, some Cisco Press, etc. Prices tended to be in the $35 and up range. All together they added up to $1018. Holy geez. Looking through them all, and adding up the prices, took me back to the last 2 years at Shaftco... how badly I wanted to learn - at least half the time. And how lazy and unmotivated I was much of the time. And how I kept trying to buy my way into having a proper brain. Sigh
So. The State of the Union. A blue tie, what the hell? I hope this money vs. HIV thing to Africa works out well. I just keep thinking, Africa + good intentions = heartbreak. I am just not sure how it will work, or what is really being proposed of course. Also, hydrogen-fueled cars? My sources say if batteries could be improved, electric vehicles would be preferable, but some think we are hitting limits on batteries. I dunno. With the Iraq stuff... I see some of his points but... I just couldn't help thinking, for example during the litany of torture, "If this guy wasn't in the Middle East and sitting atop oil reserves, you wouldn't care." But I can't argue that Hussein is not a supervillain. I was getting the deja vus back to Noriega being ousted from Panama for some reason. And the Panama invasion bugged the shit out of me at the time, come to think of it. Hmmm.
And for any "Joe Millionaire" devotees who do not view The Drudge Report or The Smoking Gun regularly: "Joe Millionaire" finalist starred in bondage and fetish flicks. Ha ha ha! I love how fetishes seem to be all about specificity.
Did I just toss out 'specificity' in some vague context that added up to nothing? Dear god what have I become.
