I've had sleep paralysis twice in my life and it was really really scary. When I was a kid once I had it where I "couldn't wake up and get back to my body" and I was standing in a dark place desperately trying to "wake up". Another time in my early 20's, I thought I'd opened my eyes, but everything looked surreal and I couldn't move and it felt like something big (other than my cat) was sitting on my chest. Both lasted only a minute or two at them most, but seemed like a really long time while it was happening.
