I think there was a little earthquake here this morning at 5:38. Building creaked, bed shook. Woke me up, freaked me out. I heard the person upstairs get up shortly thereafter.

I've never experienced an earthquake before and since it happened while I was asleep, I was kind of questioning it afterwards, but I just looked around online and other Indianapolis area are talking about it in their LiveJournals. Nothing on the local news site yet. Probably it wasn't a big deal in terms of news unless it woke you up. Good to know I wasn't dreaming, anyway.

Right after it happened my brain went to thoughts of an explosion somewhere making the ground shake. Thought about if I was facing the window in the room. But the original coherent thought was, 'earthquake'?

5.4 on the Richter scale people are saying. That's probably not very much, right? When I was doubting or wondering after, I questioned why it didn't set any car alarms off. Seems like there should've been car alarms.

Now I have to go back to sleep. The way a tornado is also called a 'twister', there should be some hick term for earthquakes. I'll think about it and get back to you. Or if you have any suggestions.

update: news story

well, exciting

other update: the 'epicenter' was far from here, and I think now they're saying it was 5.2
