LOST 'spoilers'
May. 23rd, 2007 11:56 pmWow so, three more years of this huh? Or that's what I read anyway. 48 episodes divided into three seasons of 16 shows, beginning in spring 2008. Hm.
Well I liked the finale. I wondered if beardy Jack wasn't actually Jack back from the island early on, but decided against this based mostly on the mention of his father being drunk upstairs. How is his father alive? Also seeing the ex-wife I figured well OK I guess this is another flashback. So who was in the coffin? I'm gonna guess Ben or Locke, since Jack declared it not family or friend (and they did declare the dead person male didn't they...?) I'm leaning toward Ben, since he was tied up still at the end while Locke was free. But why would reading of Ben's death provoke Jack to want to jump off a bridge? And why was he listening to Nirvana?
Stuff I liked:
- Walt saves Locke! I was just thinking a week or two ago that the mystery of whatever happened to Michael and Walt was probably the biggest, worst dangling plot thread. What happened to them? How do they fit into the world thinking there were no survivors from Oceanic Air 815? Anyway that was probably my favorite moment of the show, Walt's appearance.
- Hurley attacking in the VW bus was ridiculous but still fun. If, OK, violent. In fact this whole episode was pretty violent. I also didn't mind Sawyer shooting "Mr. Friendly", the guy had done some pretty bad stuff back at the end of season one.
- Alex finds out Rousseau is her mom.
- In general I liked that they were willing to, apparently, get the people off the island. I'm not sure what I think about it taking another three years to tell the rest of the story.
Stuff that I didn't like or thought was kind of goofy:
- Penny just happened to be broadcasting some sort of videoconference signal to the island but that's not her rescue mission with Naomi?
- Charlie couldn't have exited the radio room then closed the watertight door? I guess then Mikhail could've swam around to another window. What does it take to kill that guy anyway?
- Jack is such a drama queen.
Questions (mostly apart from the obvious and ongoing what is it with this island and what is Jacob stuff):
- Why did Locke have no problem killing Naomi? That was pretty cold blooded. How did he know to do it? I guess Walt told him what was going on.
- Ben and his crew clearly had some resources in the outside world, to do things like recruit Juliet. How does that relate to Naomi's people? And how do both relate to Dharma's continuing supply drops? And is Penny associated with any of these factions?
- Related to the last, when and how did Kelvin start the job in the Swan hatch? And was he Dharma? What did Ben know about the electromagnetic 'stuff' there?
- Post-rescue, why is Kate not in jail and who is she living with?
- The four-toed statue didn't come up once this season, did it?
And I'm sure there's stuff I am forgetting. I liked it, and I'm curious what the next season will be like. I'm imagining we'll see some sort of heavyhanded rescue operation begin in the first episode, and start seeing some of the other cast post-rescue, slowly learning their current status over the course of who knows how many shows. I'm expecting Locke will evade rescue. I'm wondering what will happen with Rose and Bernard and Rousseau and Alex... and Ben... seems like all of those might want to stay on the island but will they manage it? And if everyone is not only rescued but gets some fancy "gold pass" that lets drunk Jack fly over the Pacific for free whenever he feels like it, then wouldn't Desmond get to return to the world and make contact with Penny? And then Sun and Jin have to face her father I guess. What will happen to Ben? What will the Others off in the jungle do now, particularly what will become of the kid survivors they kidnapped? What kind of story will the rescued folks tell about the island...?
Well I am tired but have been having trouble falling asleep lately. This then leads to trouble getting up as early as I'd like the following morning. Things aren't real great right now but I'm sure they could be worse.

Date: 2007-05-24 09:10 pm (UTC)didn't you think they might not actually get rescued? if ben was right, and those people were not really rescuers, something else will happen. the whole penny & naomi thing is very confusing but now desmond has that message so maybe he can share the knowledge with someone besides jack. although sayid, who is supposedly good at reading people, did seem to believe naomi when he "interrogated" her.

I like that icon!

Date: 2007-05-25 03:52 am (UTC)I'm also motivated or think I am anyway to type up an entry about what the island seems to be now, to me... just the picture that has kind of built up from the first three seasons. Although I'm sure there are lots of little details I'm not remembering.
