family friendly
Apr. 12th, 2006 07:31 pmI overheard a commercial on the radio today for what I thought was a play, that or it was some weird joke. But I have learned it's real, and it's actually a movie: EZ Money.
'In "EZ Money," Hall's daughter Moli plays an 11-year-old loan shark who discovers an e-mail from Nigeria on the computer of her school principal. With the help of her little brother, a computer whiz, she winds up matching wits with a gang of Nigerian scam artists.'
Except, you needed to hear the commercial. It had little kid voices saying "They need us to help them get their money", like in response to reading the 419 email. Then the voiceover explained that due to a power outage, the millions of dollars actually transfer from Nigeria to these kids in America! And the Nigerians want their money back! Nigerian (?) voice: "We are going to get our money back!" And they're willing to go to America to get it! Family friendly entertainment, the commercial said.
Alas about all I see online about this story torn from today's headlines is a few pictures at the director's website.
