Oh what to do. On the one hand, there is the claim of an Easy way to live longer: just starve yourself ('Diet regimes that restrict calorie intake to two thirds of recommended levels can slash decades from the cardiovascular “age” of their followers, the first study of their long-term health effects has revealed.'). But on the other hand, An ingredient called curcumin (found in turmeric) could stave off Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases - thus, 'curry... could well be good for your health.' I dunno, I only hope to live long enough for science to save me and give me a perfect body and mind to then inhabit for another couple hundred years. In the meantime I do hope to be granted some chicken tikka masala to enjoy every now and then.

From the BBC: When the last oil well runs dry. 'Just as certain as death and taxes is the knowledge that we shall one day be forced to learn to live without oil. Exactly when that day will dawn nobody knows, but people in middle age today can probably expect to be here for it.' Then the article goes on mostly in that assured tone. I had to pass this link to Mike in AIM this morning, as it was his birthday, and I knew that he would be more than happy to rant for awhile about how this was stupid and ignores that behavior will change in response to oil becoming scarcer. But then, I hear some Shell Report Exposes Lies on Oil Reserves. Anyway, Mike scoffs at the BBC article.

This is wonderful, but wouldn't really surprise me: U.N. Officials Bribed by Saddam? 'At least three senior United Nations officials are suspected of taking multimillion-dollar bribes from the Saddam Hussein regime, U.S. and European intelligence sources tell ABCNEWS.'
