This "Monty Hall Problem" thing is slightly driving me crazy this morning. I am not so hot with the maths and the logics and am not quite getting it. I try to get my mind off it and concentrate on other stuff, but it keeps drifting back.

Anyway I sort of wish I was in San Diego today.

I have made my peace with the Monty Hall problem, I think. Something still nags slightly but the stepping through of the "you switch, you win" "you switch, you lose" scenarios here helped. Hard to argue with the actual counting of the outcomes. The "imagine it's 999 doors" (or a thousand, or a million) argument doesn't click with me; it changes the parameters of the game too much in my head somehow for me to translate the logic back to the 3 door situation.

Family Suing Over Hell Prediction at Funeral

SANTA FE, N.M (Reuters) - A New Mexico family is suing their local Catholic church over a funeral Mass in which they claim a priest said their relative was only a middling Catholic and going straight to hell.

Lawyers for the family of Ben Martinez said on Tuesday they had filed a lawsuit in June against the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Santa Fe and one of its priests.

Court papers filed last month say that Rev. Scott Mansfield said at Martinez's funeral last year that the deceased was "living in sin," "lukewarm in his faith" and that "the Lord vomited people like Ben out of his mouth to hell."
