trying to avoid the big shop
Nov. 29th, 2002 04:23 pmAs I get older I seem to become even more slow, even more of a dawdler. I think I must rank pretty high in worldwide dawdling stats at this moment. Soon, dawdlers everywhere will know my name and mention it with a tone of reverence. Perhaps some will - slowly of course, over a period of months - cobble together small shrines in my honor. The majority will mean to assemble shrines or other devotional sites, but never get around to it. I forgive them. These are my people after all, I know and understand their ways, and embrace them for my own.
By which I mean to say: got up late today, then lounged around. Had some brief AIM-chat here and there. Rode Chopper, showered. Tried using the new Mike-approved gizmoriffic electric razor, which was a mistake as the facial hair was too long but I had no disposable razors to hand. Owee. Now the shave-job looks nice and, hrm, careless. Oh well, it'll come together someday I reckon. Then I went by the video store and, yes, much excess ensued. Rented no fewer than 3 movies, all of which I suspect I might not like: Zoolander, Frailty, Reign of Fire. Runners-up included Insomnia, Vanilla Sky, In The Bedroom and Osmosis Jones. The great failing of the day, so far anyway and apart from all the dawdling, involved a bag of Reese's Pieces at the checkout line and a rare moment of weakness on my part. Sigh. Well I'll be exercising tomorrow too.
I'm at the office now, downloading some stuff that we might need Sunday. I should do some more work but, eh, well I will do some more, today and maybe tomorrow sometime and then Sunday. The drag of coming in Sunday, I must say, will be the thing of not staying up til all hours Saturday night, and not being able to sleep til I feel like getting up on Sunday morning. I'm a baby about getting my sleep, unless I happen to think everything in life is going exactly my way, which fortunately for all the rest of you is a rare state of affairs indeed.
